Tue 25 Nov 2008 - It's been a while

So, it's been a while since I have updated my blog. One of my observations about the U.K. is that customer service is very different from that in the U.S. Therefore, one has to exercise a great deal of patience in many situations. As such, I have been in my flat for about a month with no internet. It's just one of those things. However, I was assured that I should have broadband by 28 Nov 2008. I'll keep my fingers crossed. So, I have been relegated to using the internet at work. There has been so much going on here, that checking email and updating my blog has been put on the back burner. God saying the same, I'll be fully operational in a bit.

Overall, things are going well. I have been going out a lot and taking in a great deal of the social scene. I have been learning the city i.e. Covent Garden, Piccadily Circus, Oxford street, Leicester Square, Trafalgar Square, etc. However, what has been lacking in my life has been church. I've felt a bit off-center because I haven't found a church home. Back in NYC, my friends (Desmond, Danny, Angie, & Gabriel) would go to church on Sundays and then do brunch afterwards. I know it's a seemingly small thing. But, that was such a great way to kick start a week. And, I miss that immensely. Recently, I found this church in Brixton call Ruach Ministries. Those people in that church "praise". Anyone who is familiar with the black church experience knows what I mean when I say "praise". Spiritually, I am feeling a lot more balanced. I do have my quiet time conversations with GOD. But there is nothing like the group experience of worship. What has been apparent, is that GOD is GOD no matter where you go. This whole experience of relocating to London was orchestrated by GOD. This move was totally not on my radar. As far as I was concerned, I was good with being in NYC. So, it was obvious that there is a bigger and greater purpose for me to be in London. I know GOD has something in store for me. I feel myself changing, exactly how I am not sure. But, I do feel a bit different in my skin. I hope that didn't sound crazy!! But, I do feel different, but in a totally good way. My level of acceptance, tolerance, and openess to new people and situations has really grown. I don't want to to bore anyone, so enough of the pscyo-analytical talk.

I am happy to report that I have just booked my ticket for Christmas, woo-whoo!! I will be in NYC Dec 20 - 30. I am very excited to to get back to NYC and hang out with my peoples. I love London and the life that GOD is allowing me to build here, but I need to re-charge my batteries and get back to Brooklyn.

On a more vapid note, the yearly sales will begin in a couple weeks. It's that time of year when all stores reduce the price of clothing, shoes, bags, accessories etc. So, I may do a bit of christmas shopping during this time. That's all folks. I will keep you guys posted on what's going on with me.

When you look up at a star, know that I am looking at the same star. That was my feeble attempt at being poetic. Pretty lame, I know.

Holla at ya boy!! See you in about a month's time.

Tuesday 04 November 2008 - General Update

So, I know it's been a while since I updated my blog. Of course, did an absentee ballot and "Baracked" the vote. I heard the energy and vibe and the polling sites was unbelievable. This is such a momentus time in our history. I have already informed my colleagues at work that I will be in the office late tomorrow because I will be out late getting my Barack party on. The Black Expartriate community here in London is pretty small. It's kind of cool, the degrees of separation between us here in London is very very close. As can be expected, folks are hosting several parties across the city of London. There are bowling themed election parties, lounge events, breakfast parties (due to the time difference between here and the U.S). You name it and there is some sort of party happening here in London. However, I do know that nothing could possibly compare to being in the states during this time. I know all my peoples voted, so no need to preach that sermon. I will update you guys on the partys that I attend. But, yo boy plan on hitting up atleast 3 of them.

Last week was a pretty unevntful week. My weekend began on Thursday. I hung out in Notting Hill Gate. We had dinner, went to wine bar, then another bar, and finally capped the night off at a club. I was so tired that I took a cab home. Anyone who knows me, knows that I don't really do cabs. I'm just cheap like that. However, I couldn't do mass transit that night. I got home like 3am, but surprisingly functioned pretty well at work, despite only having 4 hours of sleep.

The rest of the weekend was pretty uneventful. I did the usual, dinner and saw the new James Bond movie. I hung out with Musa, a friend of mine from South Africa.

That's all folks.

I am too Blessed and to be Stressed.
